Responsibilities
- Understand the requirements for different product categories / industry segments / customers, drive Technology Roadmap, and identify technology and capability gaps, in mechanical assembly
- Lead and execute advanced development projects in mechanical assembly (including materials/components, equipment/tooling, and processes), understand process window and supply base capabilities, and drive innovation in mechanical assembly
- Establish design rules and design review methodology
- Develop qualification vehicles, training materials, and lead the build-up of factory capabilities through factory qualification and training
- Drive supply base technology roadmap and leverage supplier capabilities
- Identify resource requirements and gaps in mechanical assembly
- Support key customer projects as related to mechanical assembly
- Support the resolution of critical problems and continuous improvements in mechanical assembly
- Develop standards for process mapping and assembly line design to include error proofing methodologies for jig, fixture, and workstation design.
- Apply expertise to standardize continuous improvement and troubleshooting activities using proven tools like PokaYoke, process simulation, DOE, and DFT principles for quality and work flow efficiency
- Apply expertise to develop standards for DFA activities & implement standard decision models for the proper level of automation to minimize costs and maximize quality at assembly
Requirements
- BS/MS degree in Science or Engineering
- 5+ years experience and strong expertise in mechanical assembly
- Experience with discrete assembly automation and design for automation principles
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles, assembly line design, and administering continuous improvement activities on factory assembly line
- Experience with primary mechanical fabrication processes like plastic injection molding, and metal stamping a plus
- Experience troubleshooting and isolating variables at assembly
- Experience in advanced development projects and methodologies
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a complex, fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Strong ability to lead, manage and motivate teams to influence outcome
- Good Oral English |
